Museum Sketches, Montana and T.rex

Hi everyone! It's been a long time since my last update, but I'm back on track now! hahaha (I think). Here are some quick ink sketches I did when I went to the Royal Ontario Museum about a month ago with a friend.

I also just came back from an awesome trip to Montana. I went to dig up dinosaur fossils alongside Paul Sereno and his crew, it was amazing! A dream come true. I literally stared at the badlands for hours, sitting outside the lodge during our breaks from the fieldwork. Being in a place with so much dinosaur history (arguably, the part of the world with the most dinosaur history until today) moved me and recharged my batteries, so to speak.

Also, I'm posting the design drawing for my next sculpture, a T.rex. Please feel free to critique it, the sooner I can fix it the better (before sculpting it). Thanks!

Dinosaur Ink Sketches

These are just some semi-quick ink sketches I drew yesterday (I had no reference, so I drew them from memory). Some of my friends suggested last year that I try drawing dinosaurs from different angles from the ones I'm used to, so that inspired me to try. These are just generic theropods, they're not any specific species.

3D Dilophosaurus (no textures)

This is a new 3D model I've been working on. It's a Dilophosaurus wetherilli, one of my favourite dinosaurs. I still have to texture it, that's the next step. I modeled it in Maya 2009 using polygons. I tried to economize the polygon count as much as possible, so most of the details such as the wrinkes will be made with textures and displacement maps. Please be patient if the video takes a bit to load. Thanks for watching! :D

It took me a while to finish it because I was working on other stuff, but today I finally baked my Ouranosaurus! This is my second sculpture...time to plan the third one! I hope you guys like it.

Ouranosaurus Sketch for Sculpture

Hi everyone! this is a drawing I just finished of an Ouranosaurus. It is the next dinosaur I want to sculpt, I already bought the necessary materials for the armature, and tomorrow I'll get the sculpey. I thought that making a drawing (as detailed as possible) of the dinosaur would make the sculpting process faster, and take a lot of guesswork out of it. Also, I didn't depict this dinosaur with a sail on the back (as it is usually seen) because I recently read a scientific paper that said that it was more likely covered with muscle.

Protoceratops Sculpture

This is a Protoceratops sculpture I just finished making yesterday. This is my first sculpture ever, and it is made of Super Sculpey, and it has a copper wire and aluminum foil structure underneath. It's approx. 48 cm from nose to tail.

A Dinosaur Story

This is my final student film, I finished it back in April but I didn't get around to uploading it until now :P . I hope you enjoy it.
